I love this post for so many reasons: So that I can say SPECULOOS!!! SPECULOOS!!! over and over. So that I can drool over your beautiful images of SPECULOOS!! SPECULOOS!! So I can learn how to make SPECULOOS!! SPECULOOS!! But most all, because of you and your lovely words and sentiments. Back at ya.

Awww.. i love this and BOTH of your blogs! im a canadian girl myself, living in south korea with my hubby and baby. food blogs are part of the way i stay in touch with “my people”.. lol
pretty awesome that you two met. my korean husband hates anything with cinnamon or i would totally be making these. i think i will try the peanut butter cupcakes though jen, even if he also hates pb! ahh.. the joys of interracial marriages:)

O-M-G Thank you!!!!

Your Speculoos cookies are so yummy looking.
I have a friend from Belgium who introduced me to Speculoos, and at first I thought she was talking about a speculum (that instrument of torture at your gynaecological exam). So now whenever I hear or see speculoos, I make that association!

For the love of Swiss Rolls

I’m back!! After a little hiatus I am officially back at baking and blogging. I have missed this place terribly. Our little puppy isn’t so little anymore, and at 16 weeks old he can be trusted to NOT piddle on the floor every 10 minutes or require as many walks. He’s an amazing Finnegan…

“Homemade is always better…”, never a truer word spoken. I hate getting my hands all messed up to, but if I have to, I choose chocolate.

Glazed Apple Cinnamon Bread

Sometimes life takes a turn and you just have to go with the flow. My turn involves a little fluffball named Finnegan and he has been monopolizing all of my time as of late. For the last 3 weeks my life has been all about puppies and walks, more walks, treats, sitting on the…

Oh man—this bread looks amazing, I love how you stuff it, and chop it, and reform it! What a texture, and the first thing I thought of was French toast!

This looks amazing… and easy enough for even me to make. Thank you for posting this recipe. I found your blog through your Rustic Bumbleberry Galette (again, looking for an easy recipe) and have fallen in *love* with your Blog. I enjoy reading everything you have to say as much as the recipes. Thank you; everything you do for your readers is much appreciated! :)

Came across this post at Tastespotting and I’m SO glad I chose to click over! What an absolutely beautiful blog, I love the simplicity yet gorgeous photos. Very stunning!

Glad to be your newest follower :)

The Cruller ~ A New Taste Sensation

My life is all about puppy. I smell perpetually like a puppy, I’m covered in fluff and fur most of the time, and lately I have spent more time on the floor than on a chair or in the kitchen. My back isn’t used to so much floor time. I can stand in…

I want to sit in your kitchen and eat crullers with you.

From one finger-licker to another.

Milk & Honey has summed it up nicely. Eating crullers in the kitchen = awesomeness.

Leslie

They remind me of little round churros which could never be a bad thing. Yumminess.

Carré au Sucre à la Crème ~ Gluten-Free or Not

I have an announcement to make. I’m half French Canadian. I actually think of myself as 100% francophone, but that’s how I feel on the inside most of the time, so why not. There is no denying that part of me is of British and Scottish descent, but those parts of my personality usually…

Any brownie… even if it’s not a brownie, is welcome in my world.

These brownies look so delicious, especially with the butterscotch flavoring. I’m also in love with anything Canadian (:

P.S. Your blog is beautiful!

Yes, please.

Definitely you are some kind of francophone domestic Goddess.

Well, it’s no wonder. I loved Quebec. Because I love eating and there’s so much GOOD stuff there. I read on globe and mail about them lifting the street food ban. HIGH FIVE?! ;)

Anyway, holy batman I need these bars. Right now. Good job!

These squares look DIVINE, Michelle! I love baking and love French Canadian desserts for the same reasons as you :-) What would life be without fresh butter & cream, pure maple syrup, and brown sugar!?! LOL Oh yes, and wonderful “Pain de ménage” (IE. artisan, crusty white bread for those of you who do not speak French)

I LOve Pinterest which is how I found this recipe and your lovely blog. I’m French Canadian by the way, and have the same problem trying to get recipes from my mom or other family members ~ but mostly it’s because they keep them in their heads from when they’re young and often don’t measure anything precisely! Yet everything they make turns out delicious (and you end up with wonderful variations of recipes!).

Thanks for posting this, since I had never come across it before and cannot wait to try it!

Have a wonderfully sweet day, Michelle!
